Interesting Time Facts

In 1903 the Wright brothers successfully flew a plane for 59 seconds. 66 years later Apollo 11 landed on the moon in 1969.

Teaching started in Oxford in 1096 and by 1249, the University was officially founded. The Aztec civilization, as we know it began with the founding of Tenochtitlán in 1325.

Ten percent of photos ever taken were taken during the past 12 months.

The Chicago Cubs baseball team last won a world series in 1908, before women were allowed to vote, which came during 1920.

If you were born in 1968, the world population was 3,557,000,000. Today, the world population has more than doubled from then and is 7,217,000,000.

Sliced Bread

Speaking of time, sliced bread was introduced in 1928 by Otto Frederick Rohwedder. Before then, bread was sold in whole loaves as bakers didn't believe sliced bread could stay fresh. Betty White was born in 1922 and that makes her older than sliced bread.

Also, 1922 was the last year of the Ottoman Empire, when it was taken over by the Turkish government. It was also 14 years after the last time the Chicago Cubs won a World Series, in 1908. The record still stands at 105 years.

Baseball Record

Joel Youngblood was the only major league baseball player to get hits for two different teams in two different cities on the same day. On April 4, 1982, he hit a single that drove in two runs for the New York Mets at Shea Stadium against the Chicago Cubs. He was traded to the Montreal Expos and flew to Philadelphia in time to get a hit in the 7th inning at Veterans Stadium.
